Scientific Aptitude Index
The Scientific Aptitude Index (SAI) is a standardized benchmark score used in NLSO to measure a student's scientific ability beyond raw marks.
It combines performance in conceptual understanding, scientific application, scientific reasoning, and scientific interpretation to make the result more useful for students, parents, and schools.
What SAI Measures
Understanding fundamental scientific ideas and principles.
Applying science to real-world situations.
Logical thinking, cause-effect analysis, and problem solving.
Reading data, charts, passages, and case studies.
Why It Matters
Raw marks are useful, but they do not always explain how a student performed across different scientific skills. SAI turns NLSO performance into a more meaningful benchmark.
Disclaimer
SAI is an internal standardized assessment index developed for NLSO reporting and benchmarking. It is not an IQ score, clinical psychological score, medical diagnosis, or government-issued certification. SAI should be interpreted as a performance benchmark within the NLSO assessment framework.
